Shambaia, the "One Way" itinerary. Sudan autumn 2014

   

Shambaia is a big protected lagoon where the boats can anchor safety for the night.

Shambaia is 77 miles from P.Sudan, 65 from the famous Sanganeb reef, 56 from Sha’ab Rumi.

It 's the best logistics base for exploring the Nord because it is very close to Angarosh (3 miles), Merlo (2 miles), Abington (4 miles), which are the most famous diving place in the North itinerary. The entrance of Shambaia lagoon is particulary suited for night dives. The environment is full of life and permits excellent nocturnal fhotography. There is a second night dive one miles South from the entrance.

The scenery is beautiful: to the south west we can see  Mayteb and Magarsam islands, to the west, to the coast, a chain of mountains with the highest mountain "Jebel Erba", which reaches 2178 meters in height. In the evening sunsets, from the blue and turquoise lagoon , are spectacular.
Most of the time we are alone, with all this beauty for us.

Sailinfg for 15 miles to the east (2 hours), we find the Mesharifa island in the Mesharifa lagoon. On October and November, in this area, it’s time to look for manta rays and have chance to swim with them.
